Normal Mode

In this mode, the texture should be an image that can be tiled to form a continuous, larger image. If the level parameter is less than 100% the tile is alpha-blended into the image based on the value of that parameter. Below is an example of such an image:

Once the texture is set, it can be applied to the surface by holding down the left mouse button and dragging, just as you would with any other of the brush tools. You are not restricted as to the size of image you can set as the pattern, nor are you restricted as to the size of the area you can fill.

Normal Mode with Color

This mode is an enhancement of Normal Mode that uses a tile created by combining the luminosity information from the texture with the currently selected color #1. The level parameter is used to control transparency.

Normal Mode with Emboss

This mode is an enhancement of Normal Mode that uses the luminosity information from the texture as an offset map to apply an emboss effect to the image. The level parameter is used to control transparency.

Alternate Mode

This mode is similar to Normal Mode, except that the tile is inverted after every step. This usually eliminates the need for the pattern to be continuously tillable, but may not be appropriate for some patterns.

Alternate Mode with Color

This mode is similar to Normal Mode with Color, except that the tile is inverted after every step.

Alternate Mode with Emboss

This mode is similar to Normal Mode with Emboss, except that the tile is inverted after every step.
